Reasons to Amend

I.     AMENDMENT XIV

Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.

Note: Article I, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of the 14th amendment.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

II.    TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION

    A. Generally citizens above 15 are working and paying Federal, FICA and State Taxes, as well as of course any taxes for food or items.

    B.  Some Citizens 11 or older are delivering newspapers or advertising material, and make deliveries for a pharmacy.

    C.  Some Citizens at any age are working in a family business or in the entertainment industry.

III.   JUST A FEW GREAT CITIZENS - BUT CAN NOT VOTE

     A.   In 2011 three young women Lauren Hodge, Shree Bose and Naomi Shah swept the top prizes of the first Google Science Fair. At TEDxWomen described their extraordinary projects-- and their route to a passion for science.

     B    Autistic Jacob Barnett At age 10, Jacob was formally accepted to the University as a full-time college student and went straight into a paid research position in the field of condensed matter physics.

     C.   Birke Baehr 11  -"what's Wrong With Our Food System? 

     D.   Thomas Suarez is a 6th grade student at a middle school in the South Bay of Los Angeles. When Apple released the Software Development Kit (SDK), he began to create and sell his own applications.

     E.    Child prodigy Adora Svitak says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach.
