signed Petition to Amend the XXVI Amendment 2012-11-18 19:04:03 -0700
We can spend trillions fighting wars, we can spend billions taking care of natural catastrophies and calamaties, yet millions remain homeless, hungry, and destitute. Where, oh! where is the natural justice in that for a human being?

How does the “Blessings of Liberty” and the “General Welfare” of our constitution support those who fought in our wars and now are homeless and hungry, mainly because of what war did to their minds?

We salute the flag of this country and pay more than a fair share in taxes, yet our money is spent foolishly by our leaders and the poor among us are not being taken care of properly.

Perhaps our younger generation will see the social injustice more clearly and have the courage to change what this generation seems powerless to take action on, by holding our elected officials accountable to the tenets of the constitution.

AMENDMENT XXVI - The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.

THE AMENDED VERSION SHALL READ:

"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of age."

Child prodigy Adora Svitak http://www.adorasvitak.com/ says the world needs "childish" thinking: bold ideas, wild creativity and especially optimism. Kids' big dreams deserve high expectations, she says, starting with grownups' willingness to learn from children as much as to teach.
